TW for discussion of Multiple Personality Disorder — thankfully, not mine.

On the age-old question of, “How much of this novel is true?”

Because I also write nonfiction, I have this stubborn feeling of, If I had wanted to write about this in nonfiction, I would have done that. For some reason, this part of however this novel relates to my personal story comes out as fiction.

My mother was also abusive. My mother had Multiple Personality Disorder so there were parts of her — sometimes whoever was there was extremely abusive and sometimes, whoever was there kept me alive.

On assholes:

I don’t see the point in maintaining relationships with people who are assholes. Adult children don’t need relationships with their parents. They want relationships.
